Week 7 Reflection
In order to introduce students to new artists and art elements I could begin by introducing the artists works. A small mini art walk gallery throughout the room with the specific art hung around the walls and in different locations could spark some interest and discussions about the works that they see to get them to begin thinking. Then after either small group or whole group discussions we could elaborate on who the artist was and what makes the particular style unique. With older children they can be given websites or books about the artist for them to find their own information that they find interesting. As we talk more about the style and technique that was used and why we can discuss how we think the artist felt and how it makes us feel. When we have done enough research they can be given a chance to practice their own interpretations with more or less direction depending on the style or grade. I like how in the article they incorporated learning about the titles of the artwork as well. I would have them come up with a title for their artwork and give them opportunities to share why they came up with the title that they did.
During Wednesday's class, we worked on art parodies. I decided to use Monet’s Water Lillies and Japanese Bridge mostly because I was looking for a painting that didn’t include people. After sketching out the painting I wanted to include a sea monster or kraken in the water so I drew that over the sketch. I finished the sketch as we were finishing class. This type of activity could be used to combine different lessons or areas that the students are learning about such as focusing on incorporating different cultures or styles. This week's class helped me realize that students can learn about artists and it can be included in every area of learning and can help them understand how art relates to feelings.

Your drawing looks awesome I am excited to see how it looks when it is finished!
